One of the top questions I'm asked by stakeholders and engineers on a regular basis is "how are we going to make money?" This is a real concern for any business that wants to keep the lights on, the kitchen stocked, and the paychecks cashing. In this talk, I'll discuss our strategy at Chef, how we successfully use open source software to drive a successful business, and how the open nature of the technology we foundationally build upon and provide to the world for free enables us to navigate technology sea changes in an agile and customer focused way.
