When most people think of “open source contributor” they think of people contributing code. But open source projects need contributors from all backgrounds - not just development but also docs, release management, and critical and oft-overlooked: marketing. The role of marketing - both on the project, user and vendor side - is frequently least understood. However, when marketing is applied well, it can help open source communities thrive, it can build a stronger ecosystem that bolsters the success of all involved: the project, sponsors, and users. In this session, the speakers will discuss the role of marketing, provide examples of how marketing power open source projects, and offer insight in how marketing teams from enterprise and open source projects can partner closer together to achieve greater results.
